EXHIBITION: Meadows/ARCO Artist Spotlight: Teresa Lanceta

Teresa Lanceta (b. 1951) is a textile artist based in Mutxamel (Alicante), Spain, who recently won her country’s National Prize for Fine Arts. The Meadows Museum is pleased to present a selection of her weavings, painted and sewn fabric, and pencil drawings in this focused exhibition, the first by a fiber/textile artist in the museum’s nearly 60-year history.

Children’s Drawing from the Masters

Enjoy afternoons of informal drawing instruction with artist and elementary art teacher Ian O’Brien. Each session provides children with the opportunity to explore a variety of techniques and improve drawing skills. Drawing materials will be available, but participants are encouraged to bring their own sketchpads and pencils. This program is designed for children ages 5 to 12, but all are welcome. Space is limited and advance registration is required. This is not a drop-off program; children must be accompanied by at least one adult over the age of 18.

CONNECT & CREATE | Cubist Portraits

Families come in all shapes and sizes and so does creativity. The Meadows Museum and Highland Park Library invite kids and their grown-ups to join us on the first Saturday of the month to get creative together. Each session includes story time by Highland Park Library and an art project facilitated by Meadows Museum staff and SMU student Museum Experience Ambassadors. This month, explore the Cubist portraits of painters Diego Rivera and Maria Blanchard, then create your own geometric foam portraits! This program is designed for children ages four to six, but all are welcome. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult over the age of 18. Space is limited and advance registration required.
