The Meadows Museum Student Collective (MMSC)

The Meadows Museum Student Collective (MMSC) develops ways to engage the SMU student body by planning, marketing, and facilitating creative projects at the Meadows Museum. By serving as the voice of the student body, the MMSC helps the museum become more accessible and welcoming to communities in Dallas.

2022-2023 Project

This year, Collective members will help develop and facilitate activities for children and families visiting the museum. Collective members will also be given the opportunity to support other programs and events at the museum on an as-needed basis.

Commitment

  • MMSC meetings occur in person at the Meadows Museum for a full academic year. Meetings take place on select Thursdays from 4 – 5:30 PM: 10/6, 10/20, 11/3, 11/17 & 12/1, 1/26, 2/9, 2/23, 3/9, 3/23, 4/6, and 4/20.
  • In addition to meeting dates, MMSC members must facilitate a minimum of one program on the weekend in both the fall and spring semesters. Fall options are October 22 and November 19 and spring options are February 4, March 4, April 6, and May 1.

Compensation

MMSC members earn $12/ hour for meeting sessions. SMU requires that students be paid via the SMU payroll system. If a student is ineligible to be paid via SMU payroll (due to enrollment, scholarship status, or other reasons), they may still apply to join the Meadows Museum Student Collective, but will forfeit the honorarium.

Applications are due at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022.

Internships

The Meadows Museum offers internships during the academic year and summer that give students an introduction to the museum profession. Internships provide students with the opportunity to work directly with the Meadows Museum’s staff and a world-renowned collection of Spanish art. We ensure that our interns work on meaningful projects that contribute to the museum and give the intern marketable, real-world experience.
