Planning Your Adult Group Visit


Book a private tour for your group with one of the museum’s trained docents. The docent will offer context and insights into the works of art on view, and the content of the tour can be customized to your group’s interests.

Tour Times:

Tours begin at the following times and are based on availability:

  • Monday: CLOSED
  • Tuesday- Saturday: 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.(Thursday tours are available until 8:00 p.m.)
  • Sunday: 1:00–4:00 p.m.

Please note: The Meadows Museum is pleased to serve thousands of K-12 students per year. For the best tour experience possible, the museum highly recommends adult groups book their tours on weekends or after 2:30 p.m. on weekdays.

Pricing (fee include admission):

  • Docent-led Tours: $15.00 per person (fee applies to members and non-members)
    • Free when booked on a Thursday after 5:00 p.m.
  • Docent-led Tours for current SMU faculty, staff, and students: Free
  • Curator or Staff-led Tours: Access to curator- or staff-led tours begin at the Curator Circle membership level. For more information about membership, please contact the Membership Department. Adult Tour Types


General Tour:

  • 60 minutes | 45 person maximum
  • The docent will offer context and insights into the works of art on view, and the content of the tour can be customized to your group’s interests.

Special Exhibition Tour:

  • 60 minutes | 45 person maximum
  • The docent will offer context and insights into the works of art on view in the museum’s temporary exhibitions. The content of the tour can be customized to your group’s interests.

""Book Club Tour:

  • 60 minutes | 30 person maximum | Available October 2025–May 2026
  • Every academic year, the Meadows Museum selects a book to feature in our Book Club Tour. We encourage local book clubs to read our selection and then visit the museum for a tour that connects the book with works on view at the museum. The book selected for the 2026–2027 academic year is The Fountains of Silence, by Ruta Sepetys.

Curator or Staff-led Tour

  • 60 minutes | 15 person maximum
  • The tour will offer context and insights into the works of art on view, and the content of the tour can be customized to your group’s interests.
